Eunotia subarcuatoides

- This diatom occurs in high elevation springs and streams in
the park. These sites typically have pH levels below 7. Highest abundances
of this diatom have been observed in high elevation springs with pH levels
between 5.0 and 6.0.
- We have records from the springs at Siler’s Bald Shelter, Mount
Collins Shelter, Spence Field Shelter, Russel Field Shelter, and springs on
both sides of Double Spring Gap, and from Beech Flats Prong and a small un-named
stream along the Appalachian Trail.
