Eunotia formica - Ehrenberg

This large Eunotia species is common in streams in the southwestern part of the GSMNP where pH levels are closer to neutral relative to the more acidic areas of the park. To date there are records from Bible Creek, Tabcat Creek, Kingfisher Creek, Abrams Creek, Noland Creek, Forney Creek, Bone Valley Creek, and the pool at Spring House behind Twin Creeks.
