The People
Our Program in Ecology and Conservation Biology is currently composed of 17 core faculty
with active research programs in different areas, from molecular ecology and evolution to community,
ecosystem, and landscape ecology. The multidisciplinary nature of our program generates research
lines at the intersection of areas commonly considered independent, promoting strong collaborations
among our faculty. Faculty affiliates from other departments at BGSU and institutions in northwest
Ohio and southern Michigan provide a highly productive research and learning environment for
prospective undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in Ecology and Conservation Biology.
Our graduate program prepares students at the M. Sc. and Ph. D. levels with emphasis in Ecology and Conservation Biology. Our strong multidisciplinary research and teaching component allow students to be exposed to a wide range of modern techniques for addressing novel research questions. Our emphasis in Ecology and Evolution as the basic foundations for Conservation Biology makes our program unique in northwest Ohio, providing a center of academic and research excellence for prospective students.
Our graduates have been successful in continuing their professional development, with BGSU alumni joining graduate programs in major universities as well as finding job opportunities in federal and state agencies and private enterprises.
