Shandong University
In Jinan admits one to two students from BGSU each year, with a scholarship for room and board. The student is responcible for airfare. The applicant must at least complete Chinese 102 and one course with a component on Asian culture, society or history, and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Open to any major.

Xi'an International Studies University
Admits BGSU students for summer language or one year programs. The students must pay for airfare tuition, room and board.

Japan

Four people can be selected to study abroad in Japan for one year. Two people can go to Saitama University, One person can be sent to Nanzan University, and One girl can be sent to Hiroshima Jogakuin University. To go you must have studied Japanese and you must have a 3.0 GPA.
The summer program is with Nagoya University and Hiroshima Jogakuin Universtiy. It is six credit hours, 3 for language and 3 for culture. One year of Japanese is required. The program has classes Monday through Friday and on the weekends has field trips to, Nara, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. There are also two homestays where students get to spend the weekend with a Japanese family.
Peace Studies: The Peace Studies program is with Hiroshima Jogakuin University. The program is two credit hours and is ten days long. Students attend lectures at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and live with a host family in Hiroshima. The lectures deal with the impact of the bombing and the feeling Japan has toward it today.
