Welcome to the home page of Bowling Green State University's American Culture Studies Program. American Culture Studies (ACS) at Bowling Green is an interdisciplinary program offering B.A., M.A., and Ph.D degrees, as well as playing an important role in the University's general education mission. Our doctoral program is one of the more successful programs in the country in the field of American Studies/Cultural Studies, with over eighty students currently enrolled. Our students take courses in over a dozen different academic departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences; over sixty BGSU faculty members are available to work with our students as either joint-appointment or affiliated faculty members. Almost all current ACS graduate students are serving graduate assistantships; these range across a variety of institutional settings from ACS itself to Women's Studies, Ethnic Studies, Film Studies, Popular Culture, and a variety of other departments and programs where our students often teach their own class sections in their assistantship roles. Our graduates are employed at academic institutions across the nation and world.
