Biography:
Dr.
Karen Johnson-Webb is currently an associate professor
in the Department of Geography, and the Center for Regional
Development at Bowling Green State University. Her research
specializations are in applied population geography, including
the social and economic effects of immigration with emphasis
on Hispanic labor migration and labor force demographics.
Her
responsibilities cover a wide range of applied research
and projects, including program evaluation of local agency
programs that serve special populations, the development
of county workforce profiles. Dr. Johnson-Webb is the
author of a book entitled Recruiting Hispanic Labor: Immigrants
in Non-Traditional Areas, published in 2003, and of several
scholarly articles and book chapters. She is currently
studying the role of immigrant labor in the NW Ohio Greenhouse
Industry. She is also the author of a recent report of
the 2004 Ohio Latino Health Coalition Latino Health Needs
Survey.
