My research interests are in contemporary rhetoric, especially the communication practices and artifacts of leaders in peace and social justice movements. Other research interests include cognitive rhetoric, international/intercultural rhetoric, political rhetoric, social movement rhetoric, media criticism and propaganda, and nonviolent conflict communication. My book, Peaceful Persuasion (SUNY Press, 2004), encompasses visual and spoken communication, culture, and rhetoric in the service of nonviolence in the Gandhian and Kingian tradition. My work has also been published in journals such as The Journal of Communication and Religion, Journal for the Study of Peace and Conflict and Peace and Change.
