Biography:

I was born of Irish parents in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland, but was educated and worked for much of my life in the United Kingdom in and around London, also spending periods in the south, south west, east and center of England. I held full-time academic appointments at Essex University, Imperial College (University of London), City University (London), Open University and Leicester University. With my wife Leah, I bought a finca in sight of the Mediterranean in the south of Spain near Benissa, where we lived for a period of time with our four children, and where our family spent long vacations in the period 1987-1997. My mother had settled in Santa Monica, near Los Angeles, in the early 1980s, so Southern California was a natural destination when I searched academic opportunities in the United States. From spring 1998 I help appointments at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona until 2005 when I accepted the offer of appointment as Director and Professor at Bowling Green State University, Ohio.
