- Thank you for all the abstracts received so far. In the interest of
inclusion, the deadline for proposals has been extended for the final
time to February 15th.
This will be the final extension. Black and white and color flyers are
now available on home
as .PDF and .JPG files. Please download and distribute them. Those who
have submitted an abstract will receive an e-mail
from the conference organizers by March 1.

- Battleground States: Scholarship in Times of Crisis forthcoming through
Cambridge University Press, 2007. The book is a collection of articles
representing some of the finest presentations from the 2006
Conference. Ray Browne and Annette Wannamaker have been scheduled as
keynote speakers for the 2007 conference.

19, 2006 - The Conference was a huge success! Thank you to
Drs. Linkon, Russo, and Larabee and all the participants, moderators,
attendees, and committee members. Special thanks need to be extended
to the Chair of the American Culture Studies Program, Dr. Don McQuarie
for all his extra help. We are happy to announce that the conference
will occur next year. In order to handle the duties of the conference,
a students organization has been formed called Culture Club: The Cultural
Studies Scholars' Association. ore information regarding both the conference
and the students' organization will be released in the next few weeks.
Thank you once again to everyone involved.

6, 2006 - All paper and panel proposals have been received
and reviewed. We are very excited by the sheer breadth of topics scheduled
to be included in the conference. The schedule
will be up within the next week. We have also added a couple
features to the already-full schedule including Lisa Richman's "Girls
Room" Photo installment and the presentation of several films.

5, 2006 - The abstracts are pouring in. We have sent out the
first round of acceptance letters and are in the process of assessing
the rest of the abstracts. The deadline has been pushed back to February
15, but it is now fast approaching. Please send your abstracts to acsconf@bgsu.edu
as soon as possible in order to be considered to present at the conference.
The registration form is up and working.
Remember, if you are presenting, you do not need to fill ut this form,
you are automatically registered. But all presenters should contact
Adam at acsconf@bgsu.edu with
any questions or concerns regarding travel, lodging, or special needs.

12, 2005 - The website was officially launched over this past
weekend.

10, 2005 - Conference scheduling and planning are under way.
Topic and theme have been finalized: Battleground States: Scholarship
in Times of Crisis. The call for papers has under-gone its final
editing session and is nearing completion (expected to be finished and
made public within the week). Rooms have been booked in the Student
Union for Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. Research for possible
Key Note speaker(s) and research of local activist/community related
professionals is occurring in two groups. Beta version of website is
nearly finished. Permanent URL, e-mail address, and final version of
web space are expected to be completed by the week's end.
