Sample Ballot
Below is a sample voting ballot for the presidential
election of 1892. It comes from the November 5, 1892, issue of Bowling Green,
Ohio's Daily Sentinel .
The title reads: "HERE'S YOUR TICKET. Just as You Will Get it From
the Judges Next Tuesday, Except the Names on the Back. Study it Carefully."
Evident are the symbols used to represent each party in 1892. The text surrounding
the white circle below each symbol reads: "FOR A STRAIGHT TICKET MARK
WITHIN THIS CIRCLE." However, it appears that many Ohio voters failed
