Center for Teaching and Learning

Discussions/Workshops Spring 2013

The Center for Teaching and Learning strives to provide opportunities for BGSU educators to discuss learning-centered, integrative teaching. We hope that through Center participation, each educator can develop more pedagogical “capital.” We sincerely invite you to join our community of learners by registering for the discussions/workshops listed below.

We have organized our collaborative “curriculum” under five main categories: Developing Your Course, Learning about Teaching, Generating Assessment and Feedback, Preparing Students to Learn, and Engaging Students’ Learning.

Welcome to the Active Learning Classroom!
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) have been collaborating on an Active Learning Classroom (ALC) test-bed space in 126 Hayes Hall. This ALC is now open for BGSU educators to use for professional development.

What is an ALC?
Active learning classrooms are designed to promote cooperative and problem-based learning in which students complete learning activities that promote higher-order thinking tasks, for example application, synthesis, analysis, and evaluation. They are “learning spaces” that by design support the paradigm shift from instructor-centered to learner-centered educational experiences.

Using Educational Video Conferencing in Class

You can connect with experts, be the expert, or partner with other institutions using the Voice over Internet protocol. This workshop will intorduce participants to communities of educators and instructional resources using video conferencing.
