Center for Teaching and Learning
Second Life
The BGSU Virtual Campus in Second Life has been thriving since 2007. With several CTL Learning Communities directly discussing the pedagogical benefits of this new learning environment and over 16 classes taking advantage of this unique technology for both face-to-face and online courses, there is no better time to learn about what you can do in Second Life. Specific teaching and learning examples will be discussed as we get hands-on and dive into the virtual world. Each participant will create an avatar and understand the basics of navigation, communication, and setting up exercises.
This workshop will involve hands-on training as well as discussion. Anthony Fontana, Co-Administrator for the BGSU Virtual Campus, Learning Technologist for the Office of the CIO and Instructor of Art will be teaching this workshop. Anthony has co-facilitated the CTL Learning Communities that have focused on Second Life for the last 4 years.
