Problem-based Learning (PBL)

“PBL is an active and iterative process that engages students to identify what they know, and more importantly, what they don't know.” (University of Delaware, PBL site) PLB started at McMaster University Medical School and is now used around the world at all levels of education. It is related to project-based-learning and inquiry-based learning, but it has its special pedagogical attributes that make it a distinctive learning experience. Using multiple resources, this discussion session will explore ideas for PBL and how and where PBL might be implemented.
