Offering Feedback That Improves Student Learning

This workshop will focus on how to design and use feedback, or formative assessment, in the classroom. When most educators think of assessment, they tend think of summative assessment ―tests or papers intended to measure student learning for the purpose of assigning a grade. Assessment can include everything that educators and students do to gather information that can be used to change teaching and/or learning: observation, discussions, analysis of student work. An assessment is formative when it is used not to evaluate the student but to improve both learning and teaching. Join in this interactive discussion on how you can use formative assessment in your classroom or for your programs.
