Evaluating Student Work and Participation

Did you ever receive any formal training on how to grade students? You are not alone! Besides getting grades throughout ones educational experience, it is rare that faculty or TA's have formal training on how to evaluate student work and participation. This introductory workshop will provide an overview of common questions and concerns regarding evaluation/grading. Potential topics include: gauging and addressing bias/working toward objective grading, how and how much to comment, electronic versus paper commenting, grade keeping, various methods or systems to evaluate participation, and how to respond to student participation. Join us at The CTL for some tips and dialogue to help better prepare you for evaluating student work. This workshop will be guided by participants' interests
