Teaching Students Reflection and Self-Regulation
Learners who are self-regulated are able to modify and control their thinking, motivation, and behavior during learning. They know how to and understand the importance of reflecting on learning. They set learning goals, modify the environment to help them achieve those goals, and are aware both of what they know and what they don’t know. It seems that some students come to college already knowing how to regulate their learning, but many do not. Can self-regulation be taught? If so, should it be taught along with content or as a separate subject? Join us at the Center for Teaching and Learning for this interactive discussion on this important topic.
