FACULTY EXCELLENCE AWARDS
ARRAY OF ACHIEVEMENT HIGHLIGHTED

The University honored the contributions and achievements of many of its most stellar faculty and staff April 14 at the annual Faculty Excellence Awards.

With introductions and presentations by President Mary Ellen Mazey, David Levey, chair of the BGSU Board of Trustees; Dr. William Balzer, vice president for faculty affairs and strategic initiatives; Dr. Rodney Rogers, provost and senior vice president; and Dr. Allen Rogel, chair of Faculty Senate, it was an evening to recognize the many important roles that go into making the University a seat of higher learning, and to acknowledge the commitment on the part of those who teach and work here.

AUTHORS AND ARTISTS RECOGNIZED BY UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES

The University Libraries celebrated the scholarly and artistic achievements of BGSU faculty and students April 13 at the annual Authors and Artists reception. About 50 recognitions were presented.

University Libraries Dean Sara Bushong presented the Recognition of the Friends of the University Libraries Undergraduate Research Award to Megan Hemmelgarn for her paper "Effectiveness of Food-Demos to Increase Nutrition Knowledge." Hemmelgarn, a dietetics major, received a $250 cash award.

Bushong also presented the Recognition of the Center for Archival Collections Local History Publication Awards. In the Academic Scholar Division, Dr. Michael Brooks, history, won for his paper on "The Ku Klux Klan in Wood County, Ohio."

In the Independent Scholar Division, Tiffany Middleton and James M. Semon of Fremont won for their work on "The Clydesdale Motor Truck Company."
