'Bravo! BGSU' a success | Digital Humanities Lab aids faculty, students
"Bravo! BGSU" guests were swept up in a swirl of performances and demonstrations by arts students.
'BRAVO! BGSU' RAISES SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

More than 200 people filled the internationally recognized Wolfe Center for the Arts on March 28 to raise scholarship funds for students in the University's arts programs.

"Bravo! BGSU" celebrated the quality and vibrancy of all the University's arts areas. The event raised about $60,000.

"What an exciting evening!" said BGSU President Mary Ellen Mazey. "The guests were overwhelmed by the quality performances of our students and faculty in the arts. The evening generated much-needed scholarship funds for our students in the arts."

DIGITAL HUMANITIES LAB BENEFITS FACULTY, STUDENT PROJECTS

The Access Diversity and Inclusion Programs within the division of Student Affairs will host the TRIO Programs 27th annual TRIO Awards Ceremony from 4-6 p.m. April 2 in the Multipurpose Room of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.

This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Arnold L. Mitchem, president emeritus of the Council for Opportunity in Education, who has been a voice for low-income, first-generation students and individuals with disabilities his entire career. Thanks to his work, the federally funded TRIO Programs (the largest discretionary program in the U.S. Department of Education) have expanded by nearly 400 percent and now serve more than 872,000 students at 1,200 colleges and universities.

BGSU STUDENTS AGAIN SUCCESSFUL AT MODEL EUROPEAN UNION

BGSU students successfully participated in the 2015 Model European Union (EU) simulation, hosted annually by the University of Pittsburgh's European Union Center of Excellence, on Feb. 27 and 28. During the two-day simulation at the 20th Century Club, the BGSU students (representing the U.K., Luxembourg and Latvia) had to discuss and negotiate subjects ranging from the EU's handling of the Ukraine crisis to Great Britain's possible retreat from the EU as well as the growing rise of right-wing parties across Europe. The team returned home with a top award for its performances.
