ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES: MASTER’S DEGREE IN HISTORY

Department of History Materials

In addition to the general Graduate College requirements, an applicant to the Master’s program should submit the following items to the Department of History along with the application for admission form:

  • At least three letters of recommendation from professors of history or a related field;
  • Evidence of ability to engage in research and writing, such as a copy of a seminar paper or an undergraduate thesis;
  • A statement of purpose describing your area of research interest, your motivations for coming to graduate school, and your aspirations following receipt of the graduate degree.
  • A resume or c.v.

The above Department of History materials are submitted with the online application.

For admission for fall semester and priority consideration for an assistantship, the application deadline is January 15. For admission without consideration for an assistantship, the application deadlines are December 1 for the spring semester, April 1 for the summer semester, and July 15 for the fall semester.
