David A. Border, Ph.D. Associate Professor (419) 372-2461 dborder@bgsu.edu
|
Research Interests Principle interest: electronic information systems. This field includes digital communication and networking, and intelligent
networked devices. Current work includes wearable computing and wireless sensor networks. Prior research included work on
signal bandwidth compression and signal specific data encoding techniques. Technology application interest includes networked
systems.
Teaching Duties Typical teaching duties include junior and senior level courses in the Electronics and Computer Technology (ECT) Program.
Within this course set are the curriculum’s networking and communication courses. As is true with his ECT faculty colleagues,
Dr. Border supports the program with teaching assignments, as needed, in freshman and sophomore level courses offerings.
Examples of these include the sophomore level Electric Circuits and Digital Electronics courses. Dr. Border teaches a Digital
Communication graduate course within the Ph.D. Consortium Technology Management Program as well as other graduate level courses
at BGSU.

Sri R. Kolla, Ph.D. Professor (419) 372-7507 skolla@bgsu.edu |
Research Interests Principle interest: control systems, electric power and energy systems, and digital communication systems. Current work includes
application of networked control systems and artificial intelligence techniques. Prior research included robust control systems
and digital protection of power systems.
Teaching Duties Typical teaching duties include junior and senior level courses in the Electronics and Computer Technology (ECT) Program,
and graduate level courses in the College of Technology. These courses include instrumentation and process control, electronic
devices, and electric machinery. Dr. Kolla also supports the ECT program with teaching assignments in freshman and sophomore
level courses offerings. Examples of these include the freshman level Electrical – Electronic Systems course.

Erik A. Mayer, Ph.D. F-T Instructor (419) 372-6011 emayer@bgsu.edu
|
Research Interests Principal interest: power electronics and embedded systems. This field includes electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and alternative
energy systems. Current work includes digital power, which is the use of microcontrollers and digital signal processors in
power converters.Prior research included work with neural networks and genetic algorithms.
Teaching Duties Teaching duties primarily include freshman and sophomore level courses in the Electronics and Computer Technology (ECT) program.
These courses include ones on basic electrical and electronics principles and digital circuits. Dr. Mayer also teaches upper
level courses such as ones on microcontrollers, electric motors, and instrumentation.
