• The aviation education and training facilities are located on the University-owned airport, adjacent to the BGSU campus
and only a 5-minute walk from most residence halls.
• Students in the Flight Technology and Operations specialization are trained on the Cessna 172, the Piper Arrow and Seminole.
Specifically, the current inventory includes: • 6 Cessna 172s • 2001 and newer models (fuel-injected with Garman GPS navigation units) • 2 Piper Arrows, one with glass cockpit, Garmin 430 GPS; complex aircraft trainer • Piper Seminole 2 Garmin 430 GPS; twin trainer • State of the art "glass" and traditional instrument simulators
• Two active student organizations, Alpha Eta Rho and Women Aviators, provide the opportunity for students to combine their professional and personal interests.
• The staff includes professional faculty and instructor pilots with broad aviation experiences, as well as the program’s
own mechanic, who maintains the fleet on-site.
• Special on-campus housing in McDonald Residence Hall is available for aviation students. Students who choose to live in
aviation housing generally earn higher grades as freshmen than their peers who live elsewhere.
• The intensive ground training and four-season, all-weather, flight instruction has produced a history of excellent ratings
from FAA examiners.
