Real-world
Experience
Along with classroom and laboratory learning,
the engineering technology major emphasizes real-world
experience. All students are required to complete
three cooperative education work assignments as
part of their degree program.
These semester-long, paid co-ops provide students
with the opportunity to apply their classroom
skills in a professional work setting and to earn
competitive wages that can help fund the cost
of a college education. Graduates of the program
can confidently list one year of related work
experience among their credentials when they launch
their first job search. Many students secure their
first permanent job with one of their co-op employers.
Sample Co-op companies
Blackhawk Automotive Plastics Inc.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company
Copeland Corporation
Ford Motor Company Therma-Tru
Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America Inc.
Whirlpool Corporation
Honeywell International Inc.
Campbell Soup Company
DaimlerChrysler Corporation
General Electric
Energizer Battery Company
Student Testimonials
“My grades in high school were fairly average
because I wasn’t all that interested in what I
was studying. Now that I’m in the College of Technology,
the classes are actually meaningful and fun. Every
semester I try for a 4.0! The help I receive from
the faculty makes that an achievable goal.”
Casey Lofthouse, New Knoxville, Ohio
“I am really impressed with the experience and
expertise of the faculty in this program. When
I was in my first drafting class I couldn’t wait
to start actual designing. It’s not an easy major,
but I get the support and encouragement I need
from the teachers and my peers.”
