BGSU’s electro-mechanical systems technology program is complemented by three outstanding student organizations, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA) and the Electric Motor Sports Team. The SME and ISA sponsor workshops and related activities that contribute to both the personal and professional development of their members. The Electric Motor Sports Team sponsors a hybrid-engine go-cart Grand Prix as part of BGSU’s Earth Day activities.

Students who major in electro-mechanical systems technology also have the opportunity to utilize the services of the Center for Applied Technology. The center houses applied research initiatives including an Electric Vehicle Institute that is involved with the design and testing of electric and hybrid vehicles.
