Recital Policies and Procedures

The facility is designed to be used by university supported programs for presentations, meetings, performances, rehearsals and practices. Space requestor is responsible for all set up and tear down, returning the building to the condition in which it was found.

  • For room WSC 100 (lounge area): Chairs and tables are to be stacked and returned to the corners of the room.
  • For room WSC 101 (auditorium): Chairs and tables are to be stacked and returned to the sides of the room. Music stands must be stacked backstage and the piano locked following use.

If Facility Manager is forced to return site to original condition, the requestor will be charged for Inventory Management time.

Spaces available to be scheduled include:

  • Room WSC 100 (lounge area) with seating for up to 70
  • Room WSC 101 (auditorium) with seating for up to 175
  • Room WSC 110 (small meeting room) set up conference style with seating for up to eight

All requests for use must be submitted in writing to the facility manager.

Requests for regularly scheduled events, and for special events during off times, must be requested in writing (or e-mail) to the facility manager. The request should include the name, title and unit of the requestor, the person responsible for the event, a brief description of the event, the date/times requested. Academic events will receive priority over community/non-credit events. All events are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Keys

You must sign out a key for the Wooster Street Center from the Department of Theatre and Film office (338 South Hall). You will need to put down a key deposit of $10. Cash, check, credit and BG1 Card are accepted. This deposit will be returned when you return the key to the Theatre and Film office. [If you are unable to visit South Hall, Linda Szych in the College of Musical Arts has a limited number of keys that may be available for sign out but this is not guaranteed.]

Building hours

The building is locked 24 hours a day. You will need to check out a key to access the space and unlock and lock the doors for your event.

Security

It is imperative that all users are vigilant to the security of the building. Unauthorized use is prohibited. Only scheduled use is permitted. Students and guests are not permitted to use the facility as a gathering or meeting place. Please report potentially unauthorized use to the Facility Manager and/or Campus Safety.

DO NOT PROP OPEN DOORS. This is a fire hazard. Please unlock the building doors for your event and leave them unlocked until you are ready to leave. Be sure to lock the doors and check that they are locked before you leave the building.

Lights

Light “switches” for the auditorium are located in the fusebox in the main hallway. switches are clearly labeled. Please read the labels and use only the switches for lights. Some switches should not be flipped; they are marked as such.

Room Arrangement

Tables and chairs are available for use in all rooms of the Wooster Street Center. Tables and chairs will be kept stacked at the sides of the rooms. If you use tables and chairs you must return them to their stacks along the sides of the rooms. Check with the Facility Manager if you need assistance arranging the room or if you would need to schedule extra time to set up a room in advance of your event.

Trash Removal

There are no dumpsters at the Wooster Street Center. If your event results in more trash than can fit in the small trash cans you must remove your trash to a dumpster. (There is a campus dumpster located across the street from the WSC at the far corner of Lot D.)

Heating and Cooling

The Wooster Street Center is heated and air conditioned. Please do not change the thermostats. If there is a problem with the heating or air conditioning please notify the facility manager immediately.

Parking

If special arrangements need to be made for parking, it is the responsibility of the requestor to notify Parking & Traffic directly at least 5 days prior to event. A copy of this request must be sent to the Facility Manager.

Fireplace

The fireplace is for decoration only and is not to be used.

Piano

A concert grand piano is available for music events scheduled in the Wooster Center. You must sign out a key from the College of Musical Arts if you need to use this instrument.

An upright piano is also available and is not locked.

Food and Trash

The kitchen at this location is not approved for any use. Food and drink (with the exception of bottled water) are not allowed in this facility.

Please do not bring food or drink into this facility unless you request and receive special permission from the Facility Manager. Only a licensed caterer may be used. No alcoholic beverages may be served. Individuals from the requesting area are responsible for timely food table set up and tear down (and cleaning of tables before tearing down). All trash including food waste must be discarded in disposable containers and removed from the building.

At the end of the event all trash containers must be emptied and trash bags must be removed from the premises. (Dumpsters are located across Wooster St.)
