Recording Services Information
CMA Recording Services
The Recording Services Office is located in room 0114 of the Moore Musical Arts Center and is equipped with state-of-the-art audio equipment. The Center’s engineers provide audio services to faculty and students. These services include: audio recording, sound reinforcement, digital editing, video recording, video editing, real-time cassette and compact disc duplication and digital multi-track recording. Recording Services also provides DVD video recording of performances and DVD duplication. Recording Services is responsible for the recording of all faculty and large ensemble archives, and also the maintenance of the Center’s classroom audio equipment.
Guidelines
Recording Services is responsible for all official CMA recordings. Only Recording Services personnel may record or amplify sound in Kobacker Hall or Bryan Recital Hall. Any other company or person wishing to record or amplify sound in these halls must have written permission from the Director or Manager of Recording Services a week before the event.
Groups or individuals that do not automatically have their events recorded (please see the list below to see who qualifies) must complete a Recital Recording Order form. This form can be obtained from the Recording Services office or online. It must be completed and returned to Recording Services two weeks prior to the event. Forms turned in after the deadline may be refused or will be subject to a late fee.
During the recording of a performance, any unusual staging, such as an entrance processional or performers offstage, must be brought to the attention of the engineer 24 hours prior to the performance. If notice is not given, Recording Services cannot be responsible for the quality of the audio. The Manager of Recording Services must be informed of all recital cancellations; otherwise, the fee for services will remain due and payable.
All fees are due and payable to Bowling Green State University at the time of the order of the recording at the Recording Services Office. No recordings are available prior to payment.
A copy of the fee schedule is available in the Recording Services Office and is subject to change without notice.
CMA Faculty and Large Ensembles
All faculty, resident faculty ensembles and large ensemble performances are recorded. Groups identified as large ensembles are: Philharmonia, Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Falcon Marching Band, University Band, Collegiate Chorale, A Cappella Choir, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, University Choral Society, Opera Theater and Jazz Lab Bands I and II. Faculty members and ensemble directors will receive a CD copy of their performance two weeks following the performance. A fee will be charged for additional requested copies.
Guest Artist Recitals
Guest artist recitals will be recorded automatically unless the sponsoring faculty member provides two weeks notice that recording is not desired. The sponsoring department will be charged a recording fee of $45 dollars for a single CD. DVD recording and extra CD copies are available at additional charge. A waiver must be signed prior to the performance if the guest artist is signed to a recording contract.
Small Ensembles and Student Recitals
These groups must make a request for any audio related needs. Information on costs are available from the Recording Services Office. Two weeks notice required.
Students are required to pay for student recital recording at the time a recording services order is placed. There are two options for pre-payment: BG1 Card at Recording Services or BG1 Card, credit/debit or cash at the Box Office. If additional CD/DVD copies of the recital are needed, they should be ordered at the same time.
Duplication Policy
Copies of archived CMA recordings may be requested on the CD order form from the Recording Services Office. All duplication requests are pre paid at the time of the order.
CMA performances that are archived in the music library may only be duplicated by Recording Services. Please allow 21 working days for completion.
Audio Cabinets and Carts
Please report any stolen components or maintenance concerns immediately to the Recording Services Manager at (419) 372-8405 or email recsrvs@bgsu.edu.
Professors or teaching assistants with keys to audio cabinet locks are responsible for that cabinet’s security. Anyone who fails to secure a cabinet after its use may lose access to all audio equipment.
Lost or stolen keys must be reported immediately. The user may be subject to fees.
