Creative Arts Program
Our mission is to provide quality music education to the non-degree seeking individual. Regardless of age, ability or prior exposure to the arts; it is never too early or too late to venture into the lifelong enrichment and enjoyment that music provides.
Participants in our program can choose from a variety of ensembles and areas of private instruction taught by a staff of professional teachers and student artists. These educators combine experience, expertise and innovation to provide the finest instruction in northwest Ohio.

Parking
Parking is available in Lot 16 after 7 p.m. in the large lot behind the Moore Musical Arts Center. A one-day visitor’s pass can be obtained from the Visitor’s Information Center, located off Wooster Street in front of the football stadium, if parking is needed before this time. Please be aware of campus parking rules and regulations. The Creative Arts Program is not responsible for parking tickets.

Ensembles
Suzuki String Program
Suzuki musical instruction will be offered on campus beginning in the fall in partnership with the Toledo Symphony School of Music (TSSM).The symphony’s School of Music offers each student a comprehensive musical experience. Each student who joins the stringed instrument program will receive private instruction, group lessons in which students learn in conjunction with their peers, and enrichment activities including music theory and appreciation, eurhythmics, special guests and multiple performance opportunities. Lessons will be offered at the college as well as at the symphony's Education Center (1838 Parkwood Ave. in Toledo). Students will develop their instrumental skills in collaboration with skilled Toledo Symphony musicians with graduate-level degrees, all certified as Suzuki instructors. University Choral Society (Adults)
Instructed by Dr. Mark Munson, the University Choral Society is a large auditioned ensemble that is comprised of adult community members and BGSU students who seek to perform large choral works with orchestra. Offered fall and spring session. For audition information and date of first rehearsal please call (419) 372-2181.

Lessons
Private Music Instruction
Specific lesson times and days are scheduled with the individual instructor. Private instruction is offered in the following areas: voice, violin, viola, cello, flute, trombone, percussion, steel drums, piano and guitar. Other areas may be available upon special request. Voice students must be at least 13 years old. It is the student’s responsibility to provide their own instrument and lesson books for private lessons.
Professional Artists
Professional artists have a master’s degree or equivalent in music and have extensive teaching and performing experience. Current professional artist faculty include Nina Assimakopoulos (flute), Cynthia Benson (piano), Tina Bunce (voice), Elaine Colprit (cello), Micah Graber (voice), Dana Mader (violin), Marlayna Maynard (voice), Mary Natvig (violin), Douglas Neel (trombone/guitar), Robert Satterlee (piano), Bryan Stanbridge (percussion/steel drums), Marina Steffan (piano), Cristina Vlad (piano) and Douglas Wayland (voice)
Student Artists
Student artists are BGSU College of Musical Arts’ students pursuing their bachelor’s or master’s degree, and have prior teaching and performing experience before becoming a member of our teaching staff. Student artist instructors vary by term.

Recitals
Recitals for students in the Creative Arts Program are generally scheduled once a semester.
