About the Camp

Registrations for the camp are available at The New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp webpage.

The Bowling Green State University New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp will be held August 5 - 11, 2013. Sessions and workshops will take place in the Moore Musical Arts Center. Evening performances and concerts will be held in Bryan Recital Hall and other venues on the BGSU campus.

This unique camp is open to high school students, professional musicians, choral directors and anyone interested in improving and developing their knowledge of the vocal jazz genre. Special group discounts are available.

Accommodations are offered in student housing facilities at affordable rates (local hotels are available). Meals will be available in on-campus dining locations, as well as restaurants near campus that include everything from fast food to Mexican, Italian and more. On-campus meal plans will be available for the duration of the camp.

You will have the opportunity to work in master classes with members of New York Voices; participate in daily coachings on interpretation and improvisation of vocal jazz, and sing as part of a vocal jazz ensemble. Ensemble Opportunities

Each participant in the camp will sing in an ensemble directed by camp faculty. Any existing vocal ensemble participating in the camp may also audition for the opportunity to open for the New York Voices during the Saturday night concert. Each ensemble will present one all-acoustic or a cappella (off-mic; no PA) selection, with your own accompanist and/or rhythm section, to an audience of your fellow campers and the members of New York Voices. Based on these auditions, Kim, Lauren, Peter and Darmon will pick an ensemble to sing the opening performance for the Saturday evening concert.
