Founded in 1959, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble is made up of young solo players from the most prestigious Dutch orchestras—the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebow Orchestra. The ensemble has its own concert series in the Concertgebow in Amsterdam and the “rock-temple” Paradiso. Its programs and projects are adventurous, combining old and new music in an unexpected and exciting way. Well known for its revolutionary approach to the conventional concert practice, this ensemble is not to be missed!

Tafelmusik, Canada’s orchestra on period instruments, was founded in 1979. Under the leadership of music director Jeanne Lamon, Tafelmusik has achieved international stature, performing frequent concerts and tours while maintaining an active recording schedule. All members of the orchestra are specialists in historical performance practice. Their collaboration results in a delightful transparency, vitality and richness of sound. Tafelmusik has received acclaim around the world and has been called “an ensemble to be prized, one of the very best in its field.”

For more than 25 years, the Chieftains have explored the wealth of traditional Irish music, making it their own with remarkable virtuosity, exhilarating improvisation and irresistable charm. Apearances on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show,” as well as collaborations with James Galway, Van Morrison, Art Garfunkel and Meryl Streep have made this group the greatest exponent of Irish music.
