Pinchas Zukerman, violin/viola

Still in his early 30s, Zukerman is universally recognized as one of the masters of our time. His broad range of talents and interests makes him a renowned aritst regardless of the musical form in which he is involved.

Jorge Bolet, piano

November 14, 1981

Dubbed “one of the few living superpianists,” Bolet has played to sold-out audiences in Europe, South America, the Orient and the United States. A Liszt specialist, Bolet is known for incredible technique, beautiful tone and originality of interpretation.

Nathaniel Rosen, cello

January 12, 1982

Since 1978 when Nathaniel Rosen became the first American cellist to capture the Tchaikovsky Competition Gold Medal, Rosen has received international acclaim as a recitalist. Rosen is known to television viewers through his appearances on the Emmy award-winning PBS series, “Previn and the Pittsburgh.”

Elly Ameling, soprano

One of hte most universally beloved and acclaimed artists of our time, Dutch soprano Elly Ameling is admired as the world’s foremost female lieder singer. Her annual American tour consistently plays to sold-out houses and achieves high critical praise.

André Watts, piano
and Charles Treger, violin

May 4, 1982

The gifted pianist André Watts was introduced to American audiences by Leonard Bernstein’s “Young Peoples’ Concerts.” Charles Treger, violinist, has been acclaimed in performances throughout the United States. These two well-known solo artists now combine to form the incomparable Watts-Treger duo.
