College of Musical Arts

2003–2004 Young People’s Concerts

The very successful inaugural season of the College of Musical Arts’ Young People’s Concerts took place during the 1997/98 school year, and was the college’s first-ever series planned specifically for children.

The Saturday morning 45-minute programs, created to introduce young people to various styles of music, focused on entertaining and educating, and all included interactive experiences for children. The 2003/04 season of Young People’s Concerts will present five concerts, and will again focus on different styles and genres of music and instruments.

Dr. Mark Munson and the ladies will present a program including music from several centuries: pieces that show how gorgeous the sound of female voices can be. Likened to the voices of angels, the sounds of this unique stringed instrument will soothe and serenade you. Along with Professor Julie Buzzelli and students from the harp studio, the program will include surprises and guests, and you’ll leave convinced that “all you really need is harp!”

Saturday, March 27, 2004—Funharmonia

Do you know what an orchestra is? A symphony? A philharmonic? The answer: A very large group of musicians, who play strings, brass, wind and percussion instruments, while having a heck of a great time! Dr. Emily Freeman Brown and the Bowling Green Philharmonia will treat you to a smorgasbord of symphonic harmonies, and show how all these different players come together to make such amazing music.

All performances will take place at 11 a.m. in Bryan Recital Hall in the Moore Musical Arts Center. Admission is $1 for children, and $2 for adults, and is payable at the box office the morning of the concert.

The Young People’s Concerts are recommended for children ages 5 and up, but younger music fans are welcome to attend. For more information, please call the Moore Musical Arts Center Box Office at (419) 372-8171 or (800) 589-2224.
