Philharmonia Auditions

Orchestral woodwind, brass and percussion auditions will take place Sunday, August 21.

String auditions will take place on Monday, August 22, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Sign-up sheets for all instruments will be posted on the orchestra board outside room 1008 on Friday, August 20.

The first rehearsal will take place on Wednesday, August 24, at 1:30 p.m. in the Kelly Instrumental Rehearsal Hall, room 1012, in the Moore Musical Arts Center.

2011 Audition Materials

Each performer should bring one prepared solo or etude that demonstrates both his/her musical and technical abilities. In addition, everyone will be asked to play orchestra excerpts that are available for his/her specific instrument (see below). Click to download PDFs of excerpts.

Trombone and Tuba players who are auditioning for the University's orchestra, the Philharmonia this year should prepare a solo work and three standard orchestral excerpts of their choice for the audition.
