Classically-trained pianists in grades 9-12 (age 18 or under at the time of the competition)
- 1st Prize: $3,000
- 2nd Prize: $2,000
- 3rd Prize: $1,000
Additional scholarships may be awarded to seniors successfully completing the application process for undergraduate study in BGSU’s piano program. Judges’ decisions on all prizes and scholarships are final. Stay tuned for more details as they are available.
New this year is our online application process. Deadline for application and payment is January 17, 2014. Please note: The screening CD should be mailed and postmarked by January 17, 2014.
All entrants must play three pieces chosen from three different style periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Contemporary). One must be a movement of a classical sonata. All works must be memorized with the exception of those written after 1945. Students should aim for a program 20-30 minutes in length.
All entrants must submit a screening CD to include one piece from their competition repertoire. The postmark deadline for CDs is Janurary 17, 2014. Screening CDs should be mailed to: Dr. Laura Melton College of Musical Arts Bowling Green State University Bowling Green, OH 43403
All entrants will be notified of acceptance by email on January 24, 2014.
