Director of the Music Plus program; teaches graduate music education courses such as the Psychology of Music and Current Issues in Music Education, as well as Music Methods for Elementary Education majors for undergraduate students; holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Southern Methodist University a master’s degree and Ph.D. in music from Louisiana State University; served as principal oboist with the Gulf Coast Symphony; has performed with the Acadiana Symphony and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra; taught in Louisiana’s Talented Arts Program, providing accelerated instruction to K – 12 students identified as having exceptional talent in music; research interests include the development of student musical ability and creativity through music composition, assessment of creativity in the person, process, and product, and enhancing literacy through music; has published research in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education; and has presented research at regional and national conventions of the Music Educators National Conference, the College Music Society, and the National Association of Gifted Children. | |
