Allison earned her MM in Ehtnomusicology and BA in Piano Performance from Bowling Green State University. As one of the founding members of the BGSU taiko ensemble, Hayabusa (Falcon) Taiko she became it's faculty contact in fall of 2011. Dr. Paul Yoon, former member of Soh Daiko, created the BGSU taiko ensemble in 2006. As a member, Allison studied taiko under Dr. Yoon and took a workshop with the world-renowned Dr. Kenny Endo. Allison has also taught the introduction to world music course, MUCT 1250. Her masters thesis focused on African Dance in America, after traveling to Ghana as an undergrad peeked her interest in world music. In addition to teaching taiko, she runs a piano studio in town, Black Key Piano Studio. She is also an avid piano performer, having studied both classical and jazz styles.
