a tempo Summer 2008A Letter from the DeanDear Music Alumni and Friends,
Over the years, there have been many technological improvements that support our teaching in the College of Musical Arts. We enjoy a state-of-the-art computer laboratory that is housed in the basement of the Moore Musical Arts Center. This lab is equipped with the latest hardware and software, and is configured to allow its use for classroom as well as for individual student use. We also enjoy specialized computer laboratories to support our classes in electronic music and recording technology. These laboratories give our students experience in using the very latest tools in their classes, and for their individual research and creative projects. One new technological enhancement you have heard about, and may even have used, is the social networking phenomenon known as Facebook. Many of our recent students have Facebook accounts and use them to promote their upcoming recitals and club meetings. I invite you to join me in evaluating Facebook as a way of communicating with our BGSU alumni from the College of Musical Arts. With a free Facebook account, you can communicate with your friends and even join groups with similar interests. In fact, we have just started a Facebook group dedicated to BGSU Music Alumni. So, I invite you to go to www.facebook.com and sign up for a free account then sign into our new BGSU Music Alumni group. You will find many of your friends have already joined. Give it a try, and be sure to send me a message and suggest ways Facebook might help us to keep in touch. Your new Facebook friend, Richard Kennell |
