The MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music continues its new music concert offerings and outreach in 2007–2008 under newly appointed director Mikel Kuehn.

The 28th New Music & Art Festival will feature six concerts, an art video screening, lectures, gallery openings and more on October 17–20 at the college and Fine Arts Center Galleries.

This year’s featured guest composer Chen Yi will be in attendance along with more than 20 other composers, visual artists and performers, including the Enso String Quartet, winners of the 2003 Concert Artists Guild International Competition; pipa player Zhou Yi; nature photographer Robert Glenn Ketchum, and more. Check the MACCM Web site for detailed event information.

The center’s Music at the Forefront concert series returns with an intriguing lineup featuring acclaimed French saxophonist Jean-Michel Goury (Dec. 3), the return of legendary flutist Harvey Sollberger in a duo performance with guitarist Paul Bowman (Jan. 28), pianist Marilyn Nonken (Feb. 18) and sopranos Lorena Guillén and Johana Arnold (March 31). All Music at the Forefront concerts are held in Bryan Recital Hall at 8 p.m.

Many thanks to outgoing MACCM Director Burton Beerman for his eight years of guidance and leadership!
