Seminar with William Bolcom. Pulitzer prize-winning composer William Bolcom is the the Ross Lee Finney Distinguished University Professor of Music and chair of the composition department at the University of Michigan. He has been featured on nearly 40 albums as both performer and composer, several of which have been nominated for Grammy Awards. The recipient of numerous commissions, he has also served as music critic for Yale, artist-in-residence for the New York University School of the Arts, and composer-in-residence with the New York Philharmonic under the direction of Leonard Slatkin. Opening Reception, "Somebody Else's Dream: Gregory Barsamian." Barsamian's kinetic sculptures enact transformations that recall the intensity and mystery of dream images. He has an impressive international record of solo and group exhibitions at university and commercial galleries. His 1998 solo exhibition, "Innuendo Non Troppo," originated at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati and traveled to 5 museums across the U.S. and to the NTT InterCommunication Center in Tokyo. Activities take place at BGSU's Moore Musical Arts and Fine Arts centers, as well as the Toledo Museum of Art, the Gish Film Theater and the Cla-Zel Theatre. The Moore Musical Arts Center houses Bryan Recital Hall, Kobacker Hall and the Kennedy Green Room. The Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery is located in the Fine Arts Center. The Toledo Museum of Art houses the 18th-Century Gallery and Little Theatre. The Gish Film Theater is located in Hanna Hall. The Cla-Zel Theatre is located at 127 North Main Street in downtown Bowling Green. Most events are free and open to the public. Those requiring admission are indicated with $.
