Course Reserves: Electronic Reserves (ERes)

What material can I put on ERes?

We can put virtually any thing digital on reserve as long as it conforms with copyright guidelines and laws.

Copyright Compliance

  1. Documents submitted for Reserve must be copyright compliant.
    1. Those submitting materials for reserve are responsible for securing any and all permissions necessary for material not copyright compliant.
    2. This should be done before the material is brought in to be placed on reserve.

How do I place material on ERes?

  • Bring in photocopies of the material you want on ERes. Staff will scan documents.
    • Only 10-15% of a book may be put on Reserve to be copyright compliant.. We cannot place anything on Reserve that exceeds this limit.  When in doubt, contact the Head of Reserve.
  • All material must include the full citation from which it was taken.
    • Material without full citations will be held until the Reserve staff has received the information.
    • The citation can be either written or typed on the article or you can include a copy of a page containing citation information.
  • Include a completed ERes form with your material.
    • Use the online ERes form. Complete the form, sign it, and submit it with your material.
    • Hard copies of Reserve forms are located in the appropriate Reserve area.
    • Fill out the form completely. Reserve staff require all the information in order to put the material on reserve and to help insure copyright compliance.

What material cannot go on ERes?

We cannot put audio or video files on ERes at this time.

What happens at the end of the semester?

All reserves are removed at the end of every semester.  Library material is returned to the circulating collections.  Personal materials are returned to Departmental Offices if not picked up.

If you have more questions about putting material on Reserve, call or contact the appropriate Reserve desk.
