Course Reserves: Traditional Reserves

What material can I put on Reserve?

  • We can put BGSU library books and media and personal copies of various types of material on reserve.
  • You must complete the Traditional Reserves Submission form.  Complete the form, print it, and sign it before bringing it in with your material.
    • Hard copies of the forms are located at the appropriate circulation desk..
    • Fill out the form completely. The Reserve staff need all information to help insure copyright compliance.
  • Library books:  To put library books on Reserve, bring the books to the circulation desk, or we can pull the books for you.
    • If you cannot find a library book that should be in the stacks, let us know.  We will search for the book.
    • If a book is currently checked out and you want it on Reserve, let us know.  We will recall the book for Reserve.
  • Personal books:  Please print your name in the personal books and bring them to the circulation desk.
  • Articles:
    • Please consider all articles for inclusion in e-reserves.
    • If you are requesting that multiple copies of the same article be placed on reserve, you must provide all the copies. As a general rule submit one copy per every 10-15 students.  This is generally sufficient for student use and helps us remain in compliance with copyright laws.

What material cannot go on Reserve?

We cannot put OhioLINK books, books from other non-BGSU libraries, Reference Collection materials (without prior permission from the Head of Reference, or the appropriate Special Collection or Branch Head Librarian), or entire issues or bound volumes of library periodicals.

What happens at the end of the semester?

All reserves materials are removed at the end of every semester.  Library material is returned to the circulating collection.  Personal materials are returned to your Department Office if not picked up by you.
