Scope and Content
The Joanna Russ Collection houses manuscripts of books, poetry, articles, and book reviews; class papers written in Russ' last year at Yale University; speeches; and a manuscript diary. The manuscripts are arranged alphabetically by title.
Juvenilia, a title given by Joanna Russ and Ray Browne, is a series of hand written manuscripts for short stories, books, and poetry. Most of the Juvenilia manuscripts are illustrated with color illustrations. Several of the manuscripts have been hand sewn at the top. Many of the manuscripts in this series are brittle and have been photocopied for use.
Joanna Russ was a recipient of a Westinghouse Science Talent Search award. Photographs, program, newspaper and magazine articles about this award are included in the awards series.
Researchers interested in the science fiction genre or the study of juvenile manuscripts will find this collection of research value.
