Introduction  

William M. Green is an author of the mystery genre. Literary manuscripts and related materials form the core of the collection.

In 1974, William M. Green first began transferring his manuscripts to the Browne Popular Culture Library, Bowling Green State University. He continues to send additional manuscripts as they are written. This collection is open for research, but the photocopying of manuscripts must comply with applicable copyright laws. This register was compiled by Nancy White Lee, Popular Culture Library Associate II, in June 1986, and updated in August 2009 by Patricia Falk.

Biographical Sketch  

William Mark Green was born on November 30, 1929, in New York, New York. He received a B.F.A., 1950, from the University of Texas. On November 17, 1950, he married Lindsay Waggener. They have a son.

Green has worked in theatre, television, radio, and nightclubs for several years under the name William Iden. He was production associate and staff writer for the National Broadcasting Corporation. He is currently a writer and producer for the ABC-television network in New York, New York. He has co-authored with Will Greene three screenplays The Volunteers, A Charmed Life, and Never Say Die. He also has written-three plays The Rock of Kosciusko Street, The Odyssey of Howard Singleton, That Merry Gang and a musical Nell.

William M. Green is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, Dramatists Guild, and the Writers Guild of America.

The Greens reside in New York City.

The William M. Green Collection houses the literary manuscripts for his books. Included are related materials such as correspondence explaining the manuscripts, notes, outlines, style sheets, literary reviews and galley sheets.

Researchers interested in the mystery genre will find this collection of research value.
