Introduction
Glenda Sanders is a contemporary American author of romance novels. Original typescripts of twenty-seven of her novels, twelve
synopses, twelve book cover art forms, and one short story comprise the core of the collection.
Ms. Sanders transferred her manuscripts to the Browne Popular Culture Library, Bowling Green State University, in April 1996.
The collection is open for research, but photocopying or other duplication of manuscripts must comply with applicable copyright laws. This register was compiled by Debbie Chimahusky under the supervision of Jean Geist, Browne
Popular Culture Library Associate II in March 1999. It was updated in September 2009 by Patricia Falk.
Biographical Sketch
Glenda Sanders was born in Orange, Texas, to Everett Franklin Sanders and Dorothy Jo Cooper Sanders on September 18, 1948.
She graduated in 1970 from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Ms. Saunders freelanced as a magazine
and newspaper writer prior to writing fiction. In 1984 she published her first novel, The Mockingbird Suite. She returned to newspaper reporting for The Daily Sun in Lady Lakes, Florida in 1998 where she writes color features, personality profiles, news stories, entertainment reviews,
general features and a column, "Meanderings of a Middle-Aged Mind." Ms. Sanders was married to Russell E. Kachelmeier from
1968 - 1998. They have two grown children, Katherine Brigitta Kachelmeier Evans and Steven Russell Kachelmeier. Sanders died
January 17, 2008.
Awards for Ms. Sanders work include the RITA award for A Human Touch and the Maggie Award for the same title.
Scope and Content
The Glenda Sanders Collection houses twenty-eight copy edited typescripts, fifteen galleys, twelve book cover art forms, twelve
synopses, and one short story. The author's correspondence does not form part of this collection.
Researchers interested in the contemporary romance novel and in the process of publication will find this collection useful.
