NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL AT BGSU: Cataloging & Housing the Festival
Collection
Bowling Green State University (BGSU)
houses the non-circulating archives of the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary
Music. This collection of scores, sound recordings and video recordings currently
represents more than twenty-one years of music submitted to the Center every fall. Most of
the scores have been self-published by the composers and can present a cataloging
and preservation problem. Then collection includes a wide range of genres and
instrumentation, as well as a wide range of composers from around the world.
Examples of the cataloged scores and recordings are presented in this poster
session, as well as issues involved in processing and housing this unique collection.
