The documents collection is housed in several locations depending upon subject and format.

Collection Locations

Main Gov Docs
The Main Government Documents collection is composed of materials published by government agencies which are arranged by government call numbers and are shelved in the stacks on the first floor of Jerome Library next to the light court and the Periodicals Collection. It includes approximately 700,000 U.S., Ohio, and Bowling Green City publications.

Main Gov Docs Microforms
The Main Government Documents Microfiche collection includes microfiche, microfilm, and microprint government documents filed in cabinets next to the documents office on the first floor, on the north side of the light court. Readers and Printers are located nearby in the Periodicals Area on the south side of the light court.

Main Ref Gov Docs
The Main Reference Government Documents collection is shelved on wall mounted stacks next to the first floor stairs and stacks to the right of the Documents Office. It includes a small collection of heavily-used reference titles such as Statistical Abstract, Code of Federal Regulations, and the Ohio and United States Census materials. These materials may not be checked out.

Main Docs CD
The Main Government Documents CD-ROM collection is filed in cabinets directly in front of the documents office, first floor. This is a collection of CD-ROMs and DVDs issued by government agencies. Some disks contain the texts of literally thousands of reports and publications, while others contain digitized statistical data and statistical packages so that users can create their own information. Most CD-ROMs can be checked out for use at home or in the computer labs

Main Canadian Docs
The Canadian Documents collection is shelved on the east wall at the back of the main government documents collection. BGSU became a Canadian Government Documents Depository in October, 1999. Our small but growing collection focuses on business, environment, Great Lakes, Native Peoples, and social issues.

Main Gov Docs Maps
The Main Government Document Maps are housed in the map cases next to the Documents Office on the first floor of Jerome Library. Most of these materials can be checked out. We also own several CD-ROM mapping programs, including Census Tigar Line Files, CensusCD+ Maps, and Landview III Environmental Mapping CD. These CDs are filed in the CD-ROM cabinets and run on the Documents public workstations.

Science Government Documents
The Science Government Documents collection is housed on the second floor of the Science Library. It is a sizable collection of science materials (primarily those issued by Geological Survey and National Library of Medicine)are housed in the Science Library on the third floor of the Math Science Building.

Government Documents Microforms Area
Microfiche published by the USGS were at one time housed in the Science Library. We have transferred those microfiche titles to Jerome Library and are interfiled in the Main Gov Docs Microforms collection.

NW Regional Depository
Some older, low-use government documents from both Main and Science have been transferred to the Remote Storage Facility in Perrysburg, Ohio. Users can request these materials at the circulation desks in the Jerome and Science Libraries. Material will generally be available for pickup within 24 hours of submitting a request and can be checked out at the circulation desks.
