BGSU subscribes to several databases and indexes that help users search for congressional research information. Below are
descriptions and links to research databases, online catalogs, and website locators.
Databases and Indexes
Congressional Quarterly Weekly (CQ Weekly) Also available in paper REF JK 1 .C15 Online access is available only to the BGSU Community
- Searchable database, weekly magazine about the activities of Congress.
- Coverage 1983 to date.
Lexis-Nexis Congressional Also available in paper REF KF 49.C62 Online access is available only to the BGSU Community
- A Comprehensive index to the working papers of Congress: bills, floor debates, hearings, reports, committee prints, and laws.
- Detailed abstracts and multiple access points including keyword, subject, title, witness, bill and report number, and SuDoc
class number.
- Includes many full-text documents.
GPO Access--Legislative This is a massive database of legislative documents created by the Government Printing Office (GPO). Available to all users
free of charge. It provides a WAIS search engine and full-text material including:
Thomas Created and maintained by the Library of Congress. There is significant overlap between Thomas and GPO Access. Thomas is often
easier to search than GPO but there are materials on GPO that you can not find on Thomas. Available to all users free of charge.

PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service)
- Indexes, books, periodicals, and government documents--especially hearings and reports. Covers the spectrum of public policy

- OhioLINK provides free catalog access to a network of Ohio libraries including government depositories.
- Search for hearings, reports, documents, and Congressional studies and commissions.
- BGSU users may borrow documents housed at other libraries through OhioLINK.
WorldCat Only BGSU and OhioLINK
- Online access is available only to the BGSU Community
- A universal database created by OCLC
- Includes catalog records contributed by libraries around the world.
