Dr. Janet Parks, Distinguished Teaching Professor in Human Movement, Sport, and Leisure Studies retired from a 39-year teaching career at BGSU in 2004. Touched by the countless meaningful relationships she enjoyed with students and other BGSU community members, Janet chose to express her appreciation through a $20,000 personal gift to the University Libraries. During her retirement celebration held in the William T. Jerome Library on August 21, 2004, Janet launched her project to raise funds for the construction of student group study spaces and a cyber café on the seventh floor of the Jerome Library building. Together Janet and her friends raised more than $45,000 to fund the construction of group study spaces, Phase I of the project. To partner with Janet and friends in realizing Phase II, construction of the cyber café, designate your gift to the Janet Parks Library Fund through the BGSU Foundation, Inc., Mileti Alumni Center, BGSU, Bowling Green, Ohio 43403. (Cash, credit card, or online giving accepted. For online giving, use additional comments box to designate this fund.)
Designed by students in consultation with faculty member Lori Young, School of Art Graphic Design Program, the
seventh floor will be divided into
activity zones beginning with a
welcoming high-activity social area and
cyber café, opening into a commons area
with research stations and small group
meeting spaces, leading to the quiet
study spaces.
