The Process

1. Take a look at the web page listed. Using the question link provided, formulate an idea of what child labor was like for those involved.

Questions

2. After completing the questions, begin to discuss with your fellow workers what life is like at your job. Talk about concerns you all face. How would you overcome these obstacles?

3. Now it is time to create your own journal entry. It must be at least one page in length. Included in the entry should be: the mane of your workplace, your job title, your hourly and/or weekly pay, what your daily tasks are, certain dangers your face, when you arrive and when you leave work. Try and make this as personal as you can.

4. (The following day in class) Each student will present their journal entry to the class. The class will then hold a discussion about child labor and what they have learned through this experience. Also, bring in the two books and compare the experiences of the fictional characters to what the class learned through research.
