Teachers Notes

The web quest was designed for Middle Childhood students depending upon their development, between the grades of five and nine. The first step of the web quest is to have your students read Daniel's Story written by Carol Matas. This book will provide the students with the proper schema to actively participate in the assignment and understand the roles. We recommend that the students be given quite a bit of leeway when working on and exploring the quest. We both feel that doing this enables the students to feel more independent, which results in a greater outcome. The time span to complete this quest is approximately 3-5 days in class depending on the allotted class time and the work required to do at home. We also recommend that you visit some of the following sites to assist with some of the activities and lessons you perform with your students.

http://fcit.coedu.usf.edu/holocaust/
· This site will provide you with some excellent photographs on the holocaust and its main events. We feel it is useful because each of the pictures has a blurb explaining the photo.

http://remember.org/guide/index.html
· This site provides an overview of many different events dealing with the holocaust.

http://fcit.coedu.usf.edu/holocaust/resource/resource.htm
· This site contains many useful resources. There are movies that are downloadable to your computer, interviewing holocaust survivors, Museums, documents, and much more.
