Welcome to the Esperanza Rising 5th grade Webquest! Esperanza Rising is an excellent book by Pam Munoz Ryan telling the story of a young girl from Mexico who is taken from her luxurious life to work in a Mexican farm worker's camp in California during the Great Depression. Esperanza is has trouble adjusting to the hard labor, financial hardships and lack of acceptance in her new life. But as the title suggests Esperanza turns out to be a strong character who rises above the hardships. This book is a truly excellent read.
