During most of the 1980s, little new construction was done on campus. The Planetarium (part of the science complex on the
west side of campus) was built in 1981. Many buildings, however, were renovated and updated at this time. There was so much
movement of offices, in fact, that the College Park building was constructed to ease the crowding of existing facilities.
As enrollment and programs expanded, space on campus was at a premium.
